Cooperative Learning: Investigating the Effect on Prospective Teachers’ Metacognitive Skills Development

The current study was conducted to investigate the effect of “Cooperative Learning enhanced with Metacognitive skills development strategy” on prospective teachers’ “Metacognitive skills”. executed while using Quasi-Experimental nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. two sections B. Ed (Honors) Semester-I (each consisting 30 students) were selected conveniently for this study. One them considered as an experimental whereas other a controlled group. These groups taken from public sector university based in Lahore. Before intervention, both have been pretested and there no statistical difference found among concerning their Skills. intervention (Cooperative Enhanced strategy) given received conventional treatment. duration consisted one semester only. researcher used performance test named Skills Assessment Tool” (MSAT) adapted, comprising 14 items (representing skills) measure skills. Furthermore, Rubrics Tool (RMSAT) rate MSAT. Descriptive Statistics (Mean Scores) Inferential (Independent Sample t-test Paired t-test) applied collected quantitative data. Base results, it has revealed that significant development. So, is recommended teacher educators should use strategies develop these teachers.
